Welcome fellow Mac users! I have been legally teaching 27 years,
anywhere from grades K through 12. Even though science and math are my
content favorites, my passion is the integration of technology to
increase the academic achievement of all students across the curriculum.
My
journey with technology began 22 years ago with an Apple IIe and no
Internet connection. I had been teaching 5 years before this strange
thing appeared in my classroom. But, being the lifelong learner that I
am, I signed up for any courses I could find so that I could use that
machine. Just when I was getting comfortable, I transferred to a
school that was converting to a PC platform. Oh my! Within the next 5
years, technology was an integral part of the middle school science
program. I am eternally causing problems with integration, because the
curriculum I wrote, caused the high school technology courses to change.
I
graduated in 2001 with a Masters in Technology Integration from
Southern Illinois University. During my second year at SIU, I came
back to work on Apple computers because the university had only 1 PC
and 2 Apple labs. That made me wonder why! After working 1 day on an
eMac I knew the answer. But, I know the importance of being versatile
and consider myself a dual platform instructor. I serve schools that
are both PC and Mac.
I have a wonderful husband and 3
beautiful children! My children are dual platform users, but of course
our home is an Apple household. They follow in their mother's
footsteps and cause their teachers to investigate new technologies in
their classes. My husband is just starting to use the computer and he
only knows Mac. Lucky man!
Welcome to this great adventure with iNtegrating iLife iTo iLearning!! I am glad to travel this journey with you!
