Elton John's Funeral for a Friend is playing in my head today... AppleWorks is no more. The first word processing, spreadsheeting, databasing, and presenting tool I ever used back in the day of the original Apple II computer. It was the biggest selling software package in the industry at one point in time. It eventually migrated over onto the Apple Mac. It helped me create many things that my students used to learn science with, helped me keep my classroom organized, and my documents neat.
It hadn't been updated in a very long time, and iWork has long been rumored to be it's replacement. Guess that's official now since http://www.apple.com/applework now links to http://www.apple.com/iwork/
If you've still got it and use it, keep on keeping on! Just expect the day when you try to install it on that bright shiny new Mac you just bought at the Apple store and it just won't work to be sooner rather than later.
Wonder if my AppleWorks 6 "One Application. Infinite Uses." shirt is now a collectors item....
I feel your pain...but PAGES is wonderful!!! I do miss the database section of AppleWorks!!! I use to have students create a word bank in the database (yes 3rd-5th all created their own database). Ohhh the Good Old Days (actually it was only 3-4 years ago!) I used the database for lesson plans, student information, parent contact (do you know how easy it was to type while you were on the phone with a parent!) and just about everything!!!
And yes...your shirt is now a collectors item!!
