Assignment Builder in unitedstreaming

GPB's - Discovery Education/unitedstreaming allows the teacher to build assignments that incorporate video segments.  These assignments are then accessible to the students within a Discovery Education/unitedstreaming portal called Student Center

How is the accomplished?

Within the teacher's resource center of unitedstreaming, the teacher utilized Assignment Builder.  This is a basic three step process: 1) Give instructions 2)link video clips,  and 3) a code is given to link their students to the specific assignment.

How do students gain access to the student center?

The teacher provides a link to the Student Center website, the students insert the code into the "Assignment Code" input box and  input their student name

Note: by submitting the assignment, the teacher is notified via email that the student has completed the task.

Using Kidspiration with Interactive Whiteboards

You can use Kidspiration with stylus-based systems, including Promethean® ACTIVboard® and SMART Board™ interactive whiteboards, Tablet PCs and Wacom® tablets.

Kidspiration is designed to take full advantage of these stylus-based systems. In Picture View, you can use the stylus to create symbols, including circles, ovals, squares, rectangles and diamonds. In Math View, you can use the stylus to work with manipulatives on the workspace. Kidspiration also recognizes text written with the stylus in Picture, Writing and Math Views.

Select Stylus Mode in Application Options on the Teacher menu to enable Stylus Mode.

Tip:

When using the stylus or pen to write text, you will also want to use the stylus to accomplish cursor actions, such as creating symbols and links, using the toolbars and palettes, and accessing the menus.

In general, stylus strokes initiated immediately after placing the stylus or pen down are taken as handwriting. Stylus strokes initiated after a delay after placing the stylus or pen down are taken as cursor control. This delay can be changed by the user at the system level. You may want to experiment with different settings to see what feels most natural to you.
